ㅤAddiction.ㅤHeidegger has a drinking problem, 1000%. He is very much a 'functional addict', although I do imagine things have improved in the main verse of FFVII. It was more-so during the Before Crisis/Crisis Core period that Heidegger was daily drowning his sorrows, now, it's more just a bottle in the office drawer sort of deal. His alcoholism is due to his myriad of health issues and long-gone trauma from being a soldier.He would never really confront his addition or be honest about it. He can't bring himself to be.As said, I do imagine in FFVII, his addiction has improved, however, I'm not against the idea that he would delve into drinking a little more after the stress of the events of ffvii (being assigned hojo's work, chasing sephiroth etc).As well as alcohol, I mention drugs more from a prescription-medication point of view. He's no stranger to a slight misuse of pain meds.On a more extreme note, I absolutely imagine the execs snorting coke from time to time. Though, again, I'd imagine this more for Heidegger's younger days (thirties/forties), than his current age.

ㅤThe fluidity of sexuality.ㅤI've always felt some push back on my making Heidegger bisexual - I've seen posts demanding he's a boring straight guy, and other's dismissing that anyone above the age of 50 can be anything other than straight and so I wanted to make a more detailed post about his sexuality here.In truth, I don't really subsribe to simply labelling him heterosexual or bisexual. Oh no, Heidegger's sexuality is power, brutalism, sadism. He is, ultimately, attracted and turned on - by power.He isn't really the sort to outwardly call someone attractive or even show interest in another (beside some arrogant flirting). He will compliment people superficially, he will say what he knows people want to hear ( and the media ). Heidegger's true 'love language' is physical, it's raw. It's an animal tearing meat with it's teeth, the burn of a flame.He's attracted to both men and women, sure - but he's more so attracted to having power over someone. Naturally, he's a dominant lover - rough hands and rougher kisses.His love is almost as violent as his anger.

ㅤHeidegger's Home.ㅤi always imagined heid's house looking a certain way and in the past made aesthetic / headcanon posts about it. i'm not sure if they exist on this blog anywhere or if it's lost media (lol) so i figured i'd detail his home here.of course, he lives above plate ( not with the peasants in the slums, lmao gotem ). i imagine his home is quite a lonely place. it's a sleek two-story home out toward the outskirts of the plate. so high up it's almost amidst the clouds, his home overlooks the distance of the fields surrounding midgar and is facing kalm. if one squints, they can see the sea - but they'd probably need a telescope.it's always windy there, kind of cold. even when the sun hits the house and the false soil/grass surrounding it, it's still a little chilly. real jumper weather sort of surroundings.his home is fairly big, open-plan. lots of dark, muted colours. greys, blacks - he doesn't care for colour.on the outside, a garage for his bike and his trinkets. woodworking kit, building tools, a mini gym. a parking space for his car on the outside of his house - large windows that look out from the house. the house is all windows, y'know.you go through the front door and there's a wide open lounge that partners nicely with a bar/kitchen. as said, it's all open-plan. in the main living area is a greatsword above a fireplace, surprisingly still on the wall despite being incredibly heavy. it carries as many scars as heidegger does and like him - looks like an antique.the bar is equipped with rich whiskey and whatever other booze heidegger fancies. it's always well-stocked. the edge of the bar has a noticeable chip from where he fell once while drunk. he didn't get it repaired in an attempt to tell himself to stop drinking ( it never took effect as he'd liked ).the kitchen is wide and rich, a lot of devices that do a lot of nothing. in truth, he never bothered to learn how to use them. the fridge is hardly stocked. more alcohol, some sweet treats. he does all of his eating at work and on business rendezvous.out back leads to a large room containing a swimming pool and a sauna. again, windows surrounding the pool - they're the ones looking out over the back of the house. he makes such sure to swim for at least an hour every evening. sometimes, he just hovers in the water, floats on his back - wonders what it'd be like to drown to death.there are two bathrooms in the house ( one up, one down ) and an en-suite in the bedroom. all look similar, the one to see the most use is the en-suite.should one head up stairs, their met with the landing - then the master bedroom and two spare rooms. the spare rooms are untouched, pristine. a bed, a dresser. some antiques. they're for his daughters. they never stay.the main bedroom has a large bed adorned with deep black, silk sheets. a balcony overlooks the grey of the sky; there's two large walk-in closets within the bedroom. one with clothes, the other for more unsavoury hobbies.going out onto the balcony leads one to another small room, accessible only via here - the room is full of old trinkets and photos. photos of old missions, soldiers, friends and family. it's a physical manifestation of heid's bonds - bonds he struggles to voice or acknowledge. he rarely ventures in there - though it calls to him all of the time.

ㅤAn Enthusiasm for Carpentryㅤi write heidegger as a very hands-on / physical person ( maybe not so much anymore, but in his hey-day - he was a very physically active man ). i like the idea a lot of him having been taught carpentry by his father ( and more-so, while in the military / school ). it was a skill initially taught to him as a practical need-to-know. however, heid enjoyed it enough to continue doing it in his spare time.throughout his late twenties to early forties, heid would usually fish or build things in his spare time. it’s honestly the most ‘creative’ this man can be ( aside from being able to knit, when he were a younger man ). he would build furniture or toys for his kids.after his incident in wutai & the subsequent leaving of his wife / kids, he just sort of...lost inspiration. his workshop at home is long-unused & he’s grown lazy in his older age.he now simply lacks the passion for anything outside of work.heid doesn’t really see the point in building / making / or taking part in hobbies anymore.( as a side note - if bored, he will toy with things around him ( usually creating nothing because he can’t ) but if you left him with a piece of wood & some carving tools, he’d probably make a trinket. )( further side note - in his older age & alongside his lack of interest in his hobbies, heidegger also doesn’t have the finesse he once has. when it comes to creating smaller things, his hands shake more, he gets frustrated easier. this is another reason as to why he’s all but given up on hobbies ).

ㅤIntellegenceㅤso, it's no secret that everybody refers to heid as an idiot behind his back. in the original ff7 - scarlet says to tseng ( while they're at gongaga )*Scarlet: But, even if we make the perfect weapon, could that stupid Heidegger even use it?other characters have similar musings behind his back ( some alluding to his stress - example, in junon in the OG - a troop who mentions how 'on edge' the general's been lately. another says that he's been 'forced' to take aboard another project ( indicating a somewhat personal speculation of the director ).a shinra manager directly refers to heid as an idiot behind his backwhile a SOLDIER calls him a 'windbag' ( meaning - someone who talks at length but actually has very little to say (OUCH) )so, is he actually dumb?the short answer // yeah, kind of.i see heid as being very much the sort who excelled when it came to physicality. he was your typical jock ( without the popularity ). sports / strength / anything that required a heavy hand or physical skill - totally fine. when it comes to articulating himself, he comes across as reasonably intelligent ( he's well-read & well-spoken. being raised rich, he was bought up on the 'finer things' and finer forms of entertainment. a lot of heid's intelligence comes from plays / music / tv and life experiences.when it comes to a book-smart sort of guy / academically clever - he isn't. he just isn't. he would get frustrated if forced to take a theory test. isn't amused by people overanalysing or overthinking and actually gets frustrated by explanations / allusions / metaphors / implication.this is why people refer to him as an idiot. because he's impatient - he's very blunt / black & white. while someone like genesis ( for example ) can sit and spout poetry / analyse it, too. this would frustrate heid & lead him to lash out.calling him dumb / an idiot ?he's actually pretty sensitive about it. not that his sensitivity will come across in sadness - no, he'll lash out. he'll kick off & absolutely shout abuse / get physical in response. it hits a nerve to comment on his intelligence because he knows he didn't always excel in the more subtle smarts of those around him. secretly, he knows that reeve or scarlet ( or fuck, maybe even palmer ) are smarter than him and it sometimes leaves him feeling a little lagged behind them.he makes up for this insecurity in being loud, aggressive & physical. ( aka, what he knows ).all in all - heid isn't an idiot by an average person's standards & he certainly excels in some areas of knowledge ( primarily things learnt whilst he was in the army / bought up on ). but when it comes to his level of smarts beside the other directors - he is seriously behind them.hence his reputation - as an idiot.

ㅤDetails on Heidegger's thoughts on the 'new regime'.as much as heidegger may dislike the new regime under rufus - he still sees his old friend's son before him. like, yes, rufus may be a little shit at times, he may come off as cold (arguably colder than his dad) or abrasive toward the 'old guard', but heidegger still can't help but look at him and see a 'kid'.he sees a shinra and shinra is exactly the thing he has chosen to dedicate his life toward.so, as much as heidegger may get riled by rufus - as much as he may see him as a child / inexperienced or rude / a pain in his ass. he also sees him as the son of his closest friend, the heir to the throne - if we're going all medieval. and with that, he'd happily put his life on the line for him.obviously, my shipping with people will dictate heid's opinion of individual rufus' but-all in all; he sees himself as a guard for rufus. he looks out for him, protects him - even if he does it with a frown and a bit of a sulk.he doesn't agree with rufus, but that doesn't mean that he wont do his job to protect and aid him.

ㅤWhy did he save Rufus?spoiler warning for chapter 4 of rebirth - if you're after ch.5, you're good to goso, firstly - he did it because it's his job. if we're going to be cynical about this - that's why he did it. he's not only the director of security, but he's the right hand to the president. and the right hand to the president is tasked with protecting him at all costs. i've headcanoned before that heid was once essentially like secret service for president shinra. so his job would be taking bullets. personally, i am so happy that rebirth let it be him and not tseng ( im sorry tseng frends ) i just felt this being heidegger gives him an edge to his character that i have KNOWN is there but feel i've been fighting to represent since remake came out.secondly - he sees rufus as an almost 'son' like figure / the son of his good friend. i can imagine shinra making heidegger vow to protect rufus at some point. be that when rufus was a child or older. heidegger takes vows very seriously. he is not the kind of person to swear by something and be talking shit. yes, he lies. yes, he spins propaganda. but if he swears - and i mean - swears to do something. he will do it. look at how entirely willing he is to jump in harms way. there is not a slither of hesitation. the man WILL save rufus regardless of cost.thirdly - guilt. this is my little dash of spice into this headcanon because i can't help myself. obviously, i've always written heid as somewhat idolising and looking up to shinra and willing to lay his life on the line for him. well, where was heid when shinra died? who knows. but the fact is, he feels he failed him. his friend is dead and he honestly believes he COULD HAVE stopped it but didn't. now, if anything, that encourages him to protect rufus all the more. he knows rufus can hold his own but fuck he'll be damned if he fails his old friend once more.forth - a little sprinkle of the self-serving goodness. a little wound to the back for rufus' trust? or even his admiration? well, that aint too bad owo. now, i do believe that rufus already knows heidegger's capabilities / strengths / weakness. and i don't believe rufus is dumb enough to decide 'oh yea, i trust him entirely now' but I DO THINK rufus would at least appreciate it. hell, maybe it's nostalgic for him? maybe heidegger looked out for him as a kid? maybe it'll make them closer? (please ffvii).

i write heid as being sadomasochistic because i honestly believe it suits his character. he clearly enjoys tormenting his soldiers ( we don't see in the original, we only see him beating them up - which could be stress induced ). the remake shows us a different view in which heid teases a soldier with the idea that he'll 'let them' go and fight 'avalanche' themselves to prove a point. he says this in a kind and low tone, but we all know that the implication is 'you will fucking die.' he clearly enjoys this, as we see him laughing and smiling after. also, the closeness between him and infantryman - he gets up close and personal, he invades their personal space.( side note, the animations during this scene are so impressive you can practically /see/ the weight with which he lands his hand. he's gripping plastic and yet he /slams/ that hand down. that's savage ).another shred of his sadism we see is when he lets hojo know that the 'armoury is at his disposal' which is an insane thing to say considering that who needs an entire armoury for a torture session (lol). but, it would imply to us that he's no stranger to dishing out torture.he also makes many threats (threatening to throw people off of the plate, talking about how he wants to get his own hands on avalanche, and demanding they be bought to him alive (for god knows what) ).another note here are his comments during the airbuster fight - he outright shouts things at the party about dying slowly, hearing their screams. all of that nasty stuff.we have all of the implications that heid is sadistic. the man enjoys tormenting others & likes to see the suffering of those he considers enemies ( and even those he simply isn't a huge fan of ! - in reeve's case, anyway - i mention reeve, because he bluntly mocks him in that one scene, showing an absolute lack of respect ).( i like to think that people don't just make shitty comments like this because they can't. realistically, you'd have to be pretty mean to cut someone down for being good ).
when it comes to being 'sadistic to the point of getting off', this is where the line starts to become hazy. heid enjoys being sadistic and pushing the people around him. he likes the reaction, he likes the thrill of taunting someone else. when it comes to sexuality - the sexual side of this is only a hint. it's a suggestion. it's a lick of his lips or a glint in his eye. he's not going to be popping a boner while torturing someone. a note i'd like to add here though is that he will sexually threaten others when torturing someone. This isn't something he would act upon, but rather done to torment and scare people.masochismnow, the masochism side of things may seem a little more surprising - where have i gotten that from? well, clearly heid is a blood knight and while i could go down the route that se have probably gone down and definitely did go down in the og of heid being a fat cat, warpig (black sabbath, anyone?) i'm not going with that line of thinking. my characterisation is based on the idea of him being a blood knight who craves battle ( but can't fight due to age-old scars ).i believe he has shades of masochism due to his willingness to start a fight. the only people heidegger isn't antagonistic to are president shinra and rufus (whom he sees as 'above' him). while we don't see his interactions with people like tseng, or cloud. we do know that he's openly spiteful to people around him.i wanna point out his brief encounter with avalanche / barret. heid's initial opener is to ask them who they are ( he wants to know who he'll have the pleasure of fighting or beating ) - when he says to barret 'where are the rest of you' and barret responds 'up your ass' (what a king) - heid doesn't get angry, he doesn't snap or bark. he fucking smiles. i feel like people never talk about it and everytime i've seen someone react to that seen - they're too busy laughing at barret to take in heid's response.he smiles ! he thought it was funny! he then says 'charmed - though not what i would use as my last words' ( along those lines anyway ). i think that's a really nice, small, insight into his character and really shows us a slither of that masochistic / blood knight side of him. he likes a fight, he likes people willing to stand up and give him shit ( his enemies, anyway ).(( he could have said anything here. barret / avalanche are his enemies. he could have gone full ape shit. instead, he's literally just 'lol whatever, kill them' - this to me implies two things, a willingness to fight, an admiration for the comeback &....maturity. older people really tend not to give a fuck when people insult them, this is a good example of heid actually being mature )).the other implication to his masochism, i feel, is him saying that he wants to deal with avalanche himself. sure, it could be all talk. but he's /seen/ them in action. hell, he uses them as a threat to his soldiers. to sit there and say ' i wanna deal with them '. doesn't that imply he /wants/ the fight? he /wants/ the damage?my final note - him working with scarlet. though we haven't seen any of it yet ( but i hope we will! ) in the original, they're noted to work pretty closely and join forces in the proud clod to stop the team. the look of the proud clod has the canons on top and the body below it, the body even 'kneels' to aim the canon.we see scarlet walk around with soldiers on their knees like dogs beside her. pretty masochistic imagery. am i relating it to the layout / portrayal of the proud clod? the idea of heidegger beneath her and her above? his masochistic tendencies taking place in serving her like a dog during the final duel against cloud and co? absolutely.(( weapons dev on top & security / defence below. reflecting scarlet's relationship with the infantrymen. they walk on all fours 'beneath' her. heid's pretty much the same with her ( though, i imagine their relationship is very back and forth ). ))moving on -the spicy stuff | bdsmnow, i've just done this big waffle about heid & his penchant for sadomasochism and i can understand how people would read that and think 'oh typical he's into bdsm. you've made him a pervert'. hmm, nah.i don't see bdsm as the pivotal thing in this man's sex life. it's a part of it and a kink that he's experienced in but not one practiced on a day to day basis. anyone who knows bdsm knows that prep is a huge part of it. you think he's got time for that shit? ( lol ).i think generally, he likes normal sex. he likes basic sex with some rough undertones dependent on his partner and what they're into. though he's very animalistic & can be brutish, he's an older, experienced man. i can't lie when i say that he's a selfish lover. i'm not going to pretend that he'll make a woman cum everytime because that's unrealistic. he tries. (meme / you tried it).in terms of bdsm, i see it as being somewhat of a treat. like other directors / people, i could see him visiting placing like the honey bee inn for these special indulgences. while palmer likes to be chased around by women (|:) and president shinra rps his favourite medieval satanic porn (seriously - that's not even a headcanon). heid enjoys a little bit of leather / chains. he tends to dom males and subs to females, enjoying either category.i'm not going to get into specifically what he enjoys because honestly ( most of it ). i also think that there's this weird pissing contest ( lol ) in certain circles for what equates to bdsm and what doesn't. i'm not getting into that discussion because it's dumb. but i will say that he is an experienced older man who has tried most things once ( no matter the depravity / extremism of the thing ).when it comes to where the line is blurred - heid never blurs that line. he enjoys his job, he is naturally sadomasochistic. he will perhaps find somebody attractive when they're in pain or maybe find them attractive when they're attacking him.but the battlefield / work is a different field than the brothel or the bedroom.i don't want people to think that heid torturing or hurting their muse means he's getting off on it. he isn't. he's enjoying it, maybe taking part as a necessary evil but he's not going to fuck them.on the other hand, if they are in a consensual sexual situation or the implication comes that they're both into their mutual mudslinging and are egging each other into sexually then yes - something could happen.

ㅤHow he joined the ShinraThis entire headcanon/post is based on the posts regarding shinra/heidegger's history from this page - https://x.com/ShinraArch/status/1710044331220865287 - these are CANON.^ the world constantly being at war is something i've always ran with personally when describing heidegger's backstory. with militias being a thing, liberation and unification of continents and towns also being a thing. i've always pretty much written as if this is canon (which, i guess it is now!)my original idea was that heidegger's father once had a militia (or pmc) and i'm sticking with it. that pmc worked closely with shinra, usually being hired out by the company & supplied weapons by the company. they would do jobs on shinra's behalf.the posts on this page detail how shinra was once an idealist and a good-hearted guy who grew awful with power, and an increased need to defend his company/creations. heidegger joined the company after becoming disillusioned by the money-hunger pmc he was a part of. (again, this is literally canon).i like to think that young heidegger and shinra were once much better people. initially when they knew each other, they had goals and dreams, reasons. they were kinder, better people.once heidegger had joined shinra and began working at the president's side, he saw a man who was passionate and unflinching. a man he could admire. i imagine that the two become fast friends because heidegger respects him so much, in turn - i like to think that shinra sees someone who he can rely on ( and potentially use ).as they get older, they get greedier, and more extreme.absolute power corrupts absolutely.

ㅤShinra's Propaganda, and Heidegger's part in itwhen heidegger was a young man, probably around early to mid thirtes, he took part in a lot of shinra propaganda. usually movies, adverts, tv appearances. that sort of thing.he was media trained & very much, for a short while, became like a poster boy / example of the shinra military and what they could / would do. not so much in the same way as sephiroth, but more akin to soldier boy in the boys. he would do these tv spots, interviews, movies.think these 50s adverts of a man telling you how to live your life. telling you cigarettes are good for you or shinra-issue cars are only driven by 'real men'.he lived and breathed propaganda as much then as he does now. ( now, behind the camera / directing - rather than being an outward part of it ).i have this image in my head of a mid-thirties heidegger being in many, MANY old timey war films. shinra-issue puff pieces about why the military is amazing. think john wayne. think 'feel-good'. think bad acting and bad special effects but eaten up by people because of media influence.

ㅤHeidegger's Materia Setupㅤi like to imagine all of the shinra execs have materia that they’ve specialised in. i know that they don’t necessarily carry weapons around with them, but it’s nice to think that they all have weapons in some capacity (palmer’s makogun, heidegger’s odachi thing (seen in the concept art), scarlet’s bitchslappin wrist).for heid - i imagine his odachi / greatsword / katana (whatever you wanna think of it as) has six slots, total.heid has mastered command materia // his specialised materia are -manipulate ( fitting, considering his position as a spin doctor / cover-up )double-cut ( mastered to 4x cut - gave a spare of an unmastered double-cut materia to a scientist who later lost it )w-item ( used for potions, hero drinks and other supplements - references his use of pain medication / alcohol )deathblow ( a wild attack that sometimes hits, sometimes misses mostly misses just like heid’s plans )mime ( used in the company of people such as shin/ra. represents heid’s ability to camouflage to the will of those he follows the orders of )

ㅤFlight or Fight syndrome.ㅤthis is the idea of heidegger being in fight mode 24/7. i've always liked to make it so that he is a bit of a workaholic ( that doesn't mean he isn't lazy, he absolutely is! but he's in the office 24/7 ). the main reason i see him as being so dedicated to shinra / the military is because partially he's so indoctrinated by it but also because he never stopped living it.there's that whole idea that a war never ends - like, a soldier can come out of battle but then he's fighting another ( inside himself ). and that's how i see heidegger as being, it's a large part of my characterisation for him and is usually the crux of why i write certain headcanons the way i do / why i write him the way i do.the idea of him being always in fight mode is that he's always switched on / on edge. he's ready to lash out at even a mere look. it's part of the reason why he's such a bully, why he's so aggressive, in people's faces, takes everything so brashly. even relatively harmless people like palmer aren't even safe from his ire. he's so angry, so 'locked in' to his past and the things he's seen / done, that the battle is still ongoing.now let me go all nerd emoji on you and show some reasons why i'm dying on this hill -let's start w/remake baby. we get the scene of him with the soldiers in the control room - when he gets all wound up by their incompetence ( they're not, heid is immensely impatient because he has high expectations ). in this scene, he says -" have you already forgotten the war with wutai ? "that war ended 5 + years ago and his line here is spoken like a man who lived that shit. a man who is not over it. a man who is STILL there. and as said above, it all contributes to this fight or flight instinct he's in ( very much the /fight/ mode instinct ).another example is the boardroom scene when palmer dares to get on heid's nerves for like .2 seconds;palmer is legit just arguing that he's seen seph, which heid deems as nonsense - when palmer pushes it, heid slams his fist down and gets up and ALMOST in his face. i say ALMOST because he stops himself.another reason is from rebirth - when rufus confronts cloud/tifa/aerith at junon; the moment heid realises, he rushes forward on alert and is called off by rufus. to him, he's seen their enemy and all he wants to do is have them killed, he's immediate to want them dead.i like the idea that heidegger is old enough to know better than to just go mad at people whenever he disagrees with them. he's got enough years and wisdom now that he can JUST ABOUT stop himself ( of course, i imagine he doesn't always abide by this and almost certainly breaks his own rules when pushed enough ).but yeah, the main reason WHY he's like this is because of his fight / flight mode being permanent switched to on. as far as he's concerned, everybody is an enemy, everybody is a terrorist.he might seem kind of lazy, reluctant, rude or dismissive, but look at this man the wrong way? give him a bit of attitude? question him?oh, he is NOT gonna be happy.

set whilst heidegger was in his twenties, he’s a high-ranking member within his military unit and the group of them are constantly scouting the world for potential shinra reactor sites / goods. or just general warfare.during this verse, heidegger is sent north of the icicle inn with a small squad. they fall on hard-times when they underestimate the brutality of the surrounding area. in this verse, heidegger is steadfast and determined, serious and very straight-faced.he rarely shouts but is very firm with his squad; he is slightly softer in this verse, namely because he’s so young. (and he doesn’t have his beard yet!)

this is the main verse i’ll play for heidegger, set in the world of final fantasy vii anywhere between the initial first reactor bombing to before the proud clod fight. this is my standard interaction for any unplotted threads / any random replies / asks & starters.in this verse, heidegger is stubborn, aggressive, obnoxious, powerful and rich. he commands an army and he hero-worships / follows around president shinra.

set after the proud clod fight in an alternative verse in which heidegger and scarlet survive, heidegger is left with heavy injuries and a weakened body from the fight. i headcanon that during the end of the fight, he had a full-blown heart attack which resulted in him not only suffering external injuries but also internal injury. in this verse, he decides to drop everything - mostly due to the shinra being practically gone and instead decides to make up lost time to his family. however, they don’t want to know him.
in this verse, heidegger is completely nursing wounded pride and a wounded ego.he’s a lot more thoughtful and quiet, his anger is a lot more subdue but it’s certainly still there.

heidegger has made his enemies. hardly a stranger to giving his opinion on things, he’s not exactly the sort of man who gets along with everybody. one of the people he’s pissed off - a certain scientist (although, this can change dependent on verse).experimented on without his knowledge, heidegger is given a ‘mystery drug’ that alters him in the strangest way.with increased senses, a thirst for blood (a real thirst) and changes occurring on the outside and inside of his body that are starting to scare him - heidegger gradually begins to change.at night and in the full-moon, he becomes a werewolf. complete and utterly out of control of himself and only at the mercy of his canine needs.in this verse, heidegger is 1000x more stressed out than usual. he’s extremely dangerous and in the full-moon, is a complete werewolf.

based during the earlier days of resident evil (1-code veronica), heidegger was a high ranking military general turned weapons consultant for a rival company of umbrella. due to the shady nature of his companies dealings - heidegger had to know weapons ( and their enemies ) inside out - leading to him learning of umbrella's more shady endeavours.this storyline can be set anywhere during the resident evil timeline, but usually, heidegger will pretend to be a good guy simply lost amidst the chaos. in truth, he's a military consultant researching umbrella's weapons for his company's (shinra's) own means.if written in this verse, it would be a story of intrigue and betrayal with a dash of zombies and monsters.

this verse is based in more medieval settings - with a focus on kingdoms, princesses and general dark fantasy. this can be adjusted for different dark fantasy verses.In this universe, Heidegger is the executioner and royal guard for the Shinra Kingdom. Heading their armies and overseeing death, he is a terrifying monster of a man with a reputation almost as brutal as the edge of his axe. In this verse, he is slightly younger - usually aging between late 30s - 40s and dons similar armour to the Kurgan in Highlander.

set within the universe of elden ring - heidegger was once a knight of the golden order; a man who resided within leyndell and fought amongst the ranks of its army.
steadfast and loyal to his cause; he would hunt those who lived in death, taunt those of liurnia of the lakes and overall be a self-righteous, borderline abusive ‘believer’. he followed the teachings of the erdtree and the golden order because they gave him something to hanker every belief upon. things would change when the shattering occurred and the world fell to ruin -heidegger was weak from all of the fighting, committed to his faith but wary in the face of his enemy. he was ready to fall and die, making his way from the battle at mt.gelmir back to lyndell in the hopes of regathering.
upon entering the capital, he heard a whisper - an enticing call that took him far beneath the city and into the underground.lost for so long, he eventually came across a barren room (one akin to a church) - here, the whispers grew louder and beyond its walls sat a chasm. a chasm lined with long-dead merchants. embraced by the sounds and enticed by curiosity - heidegger collapsed, falling into the great chasm and somehow surviving the plummet to the ground.here, he was greeted by the sight of a large, singed door. the whisper now a shout.despite being unable to make out the taunts beyond the door, heidegger approached - slow footsteps, weapon and seal discarded - armour slowly shed. upon opening the door, he was embraced while in his purest form and felt the burn of the frenzied flame.
emerging from the fire and through the deeproot depths - a new man trawled the world. a man, scorched and confused. a man whose eyes burn so badly he’s near-blind.a man, obsessed with finding that warmth once more.

set within the world of f&h, heidegger was once a general of the rondon army ; a fierce and merciless fighter, he excelled in bringing war to enemy continents and was ( for a time ) held in high regard.as he aged, he grew more and more brutal; not as good at fighting but certainly enthusiastic in his sadism. due to various health ailments and his older age, he ceased fighting to instead rule as a general in his comfortable position. it wasn’t until the allure of the dungeons caught his eye that heidegger once more took his blade and readied it for blood -he’d an idea of emerging from the place a hero; no longer known as a 'worn’, 'old’ fighter but instead a force of nature. never waned, despite his age -however, things didn’t go quite to plan.soon lost to the dungeon’s winding tunnels, nasty inhabitants & brutal traps, heidegger was considered lost. hailed as a hero who had perished battling back the depths of the dungeons, but in truth, still alive and now a slave to his own mortality.he would find himself victim of the dungeon’s walls ( and everything within them ).now, he wanders - a worn katana in one hand, his other hand - long gone. his body is adorned in scars and he wears the rags of what once was a general’s garb. if encountered, one will quickly notice his mad ramblings and violent tendencies. the only thing keeping him alive - his thirst for blood & his love of battle.

in this verse, heidegger is an experienced instructor for galbadia garden. once a general of the galbadian military, he now dedicates his time to training their school of mercenaries.his specialism is typical military drill and training, but also katana and manipulation/media training. he is as hotheaded and brutal as he is in ffvii, however, his motivations and loyalty are a little shaken. more-so by the recent empowerment of the sorceress edea.renown around the garden for being a tough, no-bars-held asshole only hellbent on producing good mercenaries, he's hardly what one would call friendly.Despite it, in a twist, heidegger is one of the 'good guys' in this verse.In the aftermath of ffviii's story, heidegger leaves the garden and instead spends his time in deling city - where he becomes good friends with general caraway.

set within the ffx world - heidegger is a guardian for the shinra family of summoners. alongside heidegger stands the other executives, scarlet, reeve, palmer and hojo. all work together as the guardians for old man shinra.taking his position as a guardian VERY seriously, heidegger would follow shinra to the ends of the world - secretly, he doesn't really want his friend to die. despite that, when it happens ( and the torch is passed to rufus - a man less enthusiastic about the job of a summoner than his old man ), heidegger finds himself defending a man whose ideals he doesn't really align with.reading this, you might think that this means, in this verse, heidegger and the gang are good. no, they're still not. heidegger is still abrasive, abusive, aggressive ( and all the other a's ). he's just a bad guy who happens to be doing the right thing.

set within the world of final fantasy xv - this verse was predominantly written in mind for my relationship building with @chosenbythecrystal's noctis.In this verse, Heidegger is a close confidant of King Regis and the Caelum family, however, he is not without malicious intent nor is he a good guy. He simply plays the role of a 'good guy'. In truth, he is eager for war and takes to manipulating the young prince Noctis at any and every turn he possibly can.The two have a strange and dark relationship, with Heidegger taking his role as the spiteful whisper in Noctis' ear. A very dark and twisted verse to write in - should I write with others in this verse, including other Noctis' - I'm happy to shift things around.

in this universe - heidegger resides in sanbreque, taking his place in a similar role to that of his part in ffvii. he is a military leader / strategist and commands the armies of the holy empire. his command is of those directly beneath the emperor’s army / ranks. he has no input with lord dion’s dragoon knights.as well as this, heidegger oversees those within the imperial army ( and by extension, the branded used to fight within it ). in this universe, as he is in ffvii, he’s massively prejudice, cruel and sadistic. he is also a veteran of war, has old wounds ( all of them similar to his timeline listed injuries ) & has many medals / feats to his name.despite commanding the military, heidegger works closely with the emperor - sylvestre lesage - and actually holds the man in the same vain as he does shinra in his standard universe. in truth, heid is borderline obsessed / in love with the man ( a heavily guarded secret he’d never admit unless seriously pushed ). he also favours lady anabella and feels she’s a suitable choice for his emperor ( big yikes my guy, this aint it ). heid’s relationship with dion is a strained one - he knew the man as a boy and has forever admired his skills but the two clash due to heid’s stubborness and dion’s compassion.in terms of powers / dominants and the like. heid is a regular soldier though one who once fought valiantly on the battlefield. he’s a naturally strong sort, who could always hold his own in battle. however, in some verses & whilst writing with certain plots, i will introduce the idea of heid being a dominant himself. in keeping with ffvii, his eikon is kujata. i chose this, as i feel the multi-elemental chaotic bull suits heid pretty well ( the representation of the bull is that it carries a weight on its back - something that could be argued for my heid ). this is something that will only be experimented with on certain plots and will not be implicated / written when writing in my standard ffxvi verse.spoiler territory below -
after dion accidentally impales his father & succumbs to madness / destroys the place as bahamut, heid somehow survives and makes it his mission to exact revenge on the man ( a total misunderstanding ).without his kingdom and in dire straits after the destruction / death of his emperor, heid is on the warpath and will do anything to catch the young dragoon.

ㅤBIRTH.ㅤ heidegger's father was a man named magnar heidegger, a fierce soldier in ownership of his own travelling militia. these solders would fight on behalf of the highest payer, essentially being a mercenary force for cities and companies large enough to employ them. initially, they fought from junon but as the years went on, their alliances would change.magnar heidegger sr met a young wutai woman by the name of kate whilst on a mission in the region with his militia. taken by her looks, as well as her gentle-refrain, he enticed her to come back home with him to junon where the two later got married & gave birth to a son. magnar valerio heidegger.the year was 1949. the child was, at first, loved by the couple. however, as magnar sr's success grew and the pair became richer and richer, they became more interested in celebrity and power rather than their own child. the baby, as a result of this, grew into a rich - but largely unloving home.ㅤAGE SIX.ㅤ at the age of six, magnar's father would regularly fight for the shinra company - turning his standalone militia into one of the companies private security force (pmc). during this time, he stopped journeying and was instead at home a lot more alongside his wife and son. the man worked closely with the hire-ups of the shinra company as their security consultant. though he thrived in his work life, the man was a sour, bitter alcoholic at home who would mercilessly beat his wife and child for the slightest indiscretion.kate reacted with indifference to this violence, absorbing herself in prescription medication & high-end parties in order to numb herself. their son, magnar, was left to his own devices. only nannies caring for him ( and only nannies getting the brunt of the child's explosive outbursts ).during magnar's childhood, the family would still visit wutai on occasion - an outing that the child never felt fondly of.despite his father's connections to wutai & junon. in the war between junon & shinra that would eventually come to be - heidegger's father would side with shinra. a decision that the son would never fully understand.ㅤAGE TEN.ㅤ his father decided to gift him a blade during one of these vacations ( a blade far too big for the child ) & one forged within the da-chao statue mountains. the blade, an odachi ( or, long katana ) was said to be infused with the power of the water god, leviathan. ( a lie, but one that the child would forever believe & later manifest himself through his own power ). it was at this age that heidegger began training with an age old samurai in the code of bushido - however, the child was deemed too unruly & awful to be trained properly.despite his father's gift, at home - the parents began to notice their childs lashing out. the boy was awful, wrecking anything he could get his hands on, being regularly violent with the nannies as well as other children. the boy was ostracised at school and seen as a danger to those around him. in response ( and with this father's beatings only making the problem worse ) the parents decided to send a young magnar to a military boarding school.

ㅤAGE SIXTEEN.ㅤmagnar had grown into an impressive young man. with good genetics, he sported thick black hair, was taller than his fellow students and well-built. taking to the military lifestyle, he entirely put himself into studying as a soldier and though he never excelled at more academic study, his prowess in sports and physical activity marked him as a strong recruit.during this time, his mother, kate was found dead of an overdose, her funeral being one of the few times him and his father had been together for a very long time. the tension between the two, palpable. it was at this funeral that heidegger's father gave him the sword he'd once given him as a child. though he took it, magnar wasn't thankful and began to refer to himself - and make other's refer to him - as heidegger ( rather than magnar ). this was his way of mocking the father he now towered over ( and felt stronger than ).ㅤAGE SEVENTEEN.ㅤ at the age of seventeen (1966) - heidegger was accused of causing disruption in the soldier's barracks after he doused another boy in scolding hot water. the incident happened because the boy had been teasing the young heidegger; the mere act of slightly mocking him led to the lad having third-degree burns, he later left the academy.though heidegger had excelled in the academy for his devotion to the military and it's way of 'straightening him out' his temper was still something notably and widely commented on behind his back within the various ranks.* though this incident should have seen him expelled, his father pulled strings to allow heidegger to get off entirely free.ㅤAGE NINETEEN.ㅤ at the age of nineteen (1968), heidegger met an older woman in a bar; the two had sex, marking him losing his virginity. she ditched him and he never saw her again ( but that kind of worked for him ). it was at this time that he also reconciled with his old sensei, who proceeded to teach him how to use his sword properly. ( and not like a broadsword as heidegger had been wielding it ).ㅤAGE TWENTYONE.ㅤ at the age of twenty-one (1970), heidegger had fully enrolled in the junon army & though he again excelled as a soldier, he would forever find it difficult to progress due to his reputation as an unfriendly hothead. as a young man, he was quiet and thoughtful but had an incredibly dark streak that would find its way out whenever he found himself tested or pushed.though he was feared and generally avoided by the men in his squad ( as well as those who knew him ), heidegger did play briefly for junon's rugby team - the junon zemzelettas as a forward. at this time of his life, he was relatively happy - he was thriving at work and in sports and though lonely, would pride himself on his strong work ethic.ㅤAGE TWENTYTWO.ㅤ at the age of twenty-two (1971), during this time, the war between junon and shinra erupted - with heidegger serving on the side of junon. during the battle, he felled a behemoth in battle ( a beast used by the shinra alongside their machines ). during this fierce duel, heidegger used the katana honoured to him by his parents - he defeated the beast but was left with a brutal mar across his eye.this event was greatly celebrated by the junon military. heidegger, was seen as a hero. despite it, he still wasn't particularly liked and with them losing the war, he soon left the army - instead joining his father's old private military company.

ㅤAGE twentythree.ㅤ at twenty-three (1972), heidegger was assigned to a squad of men to explore and clear the path the gaea caves that lined the cliffs north of the icicle area ( around the northern crater ). the expedition was put together on the behest of the shinra company - who had hired out the pmc. this was a small team of men but during the expedition.during this time, heidegger received news that his father - magnar sr had been found dead - with a bullet in his head. this was ruled a suicide, though the truth was never discovered.despite the death of his father, heidegger continued through the icicle region & north toward the gaea caves; initially, their expedition was a success. however, upon reaching the harsh climates of the mountains and becoming entrapped within the sprawling system of caves, the party found themselves quickly overwhelmed by nature & the monsters that dwelled within the caves. one by one, men dropped off until eventually, only sam ( the team's videographer ), kaius & heidegger remained. kaius, having gotten too close to a pool of mako ( or rather, the lifestream ) had found himself infected with an unknown disease - a plague that began to physically eat away at the flesh and bone of his left arm. luckily for the men, rescue arrived but unfortunately for them - their squad had either been mutated into beasts or murdered.once home in junon, sam desserted the army ( only to be later executed ), kaius lost the entirety of his left arm and was medically discharged from the army ( returning to cosmo canyon - alone ) & heidegger was celebrated as having survived the horrific events and further hailed as a hero ( this time, against his will ). the pressure from public perception, what his father had handed down to him in responsibilities & the trauma experienced by losing his men in the gaea caves resulted in a nervous breakdown with heidegger becoming outwardly suicidal & overly-aggressive to those around him.

ㅤAGE twentyfive.ㅤ at the age of twenty-five (1974), during this time, the world was in a constant state of war - with the pmc that heidegger was a part of frequently used by the shinra corp as a means of battle.despite his emotional instabilty, heidegger would challenge his anger and upset into battle - becoming somewhat of a bloodknight on the battlefield.however, as a high-ranking soldier, heidegger soon found himself disillusioned by the money-grabbing ways of the pmc that he was a part of. it had become a stretch away from his father's vision, the other mercs had become cold and distant, and his leader was nothing more than a cowardly, money-obsessed fool.disgusted and disappointed by those who didn't fight a battle for a thrill or reason but rather money, heidegger turned his attention to the young president shinra - an ambitious, strong man who had dreams that stretched beyond money or power.the president offered heidegger a position at his side, as a bodyguard and military strategist / advisor; revitalised - heidegger took the offer.ㅤAGE twentyseven.ㅤ at the age of twenty-seven ( 1976 ), heidegger met a journalist that had been poking around the shinra company. a strong woman called zhara, with a beautiful mane of blonde hair and piercing green eyes - despite her initial distrust for all things shinra, the two found comfort in sparring with one another. soon enough, they were married.ㅤAGE twentyeight.ㅤ at twenty-eight (1977), heidegger and zhara's first daughter was born - edlyn. edlyn inherited her father's looks, dark hair and dark eyes - she would later grow into a statuesque stunner of a woman, more in-line with a model than the journalist she would later aspire to be.it was within the next few years that the military would be renamed as the public security sector of shinra & heidegger - at the age of thirty-two would be dubbed the acting leader of this branch - in reality, the sector was ran by various higher ranking members of the military, with heidegger busy at shinra's side ( as well as looking after his wife and young child ).

ㅤAGE thirty.ㅤ at this age, zhara and magnar had their first and only boy - kain.kain is or rather was a totally 'daddy's boy' - he wanted to be in the military, just like his father - and was for a long while. he looks the SPIT of his father; tall, black hair, perfect eyebrows / hazel eyes. he's muscular and aggressive. in the army, he excelled in hand to hand combat however after serving in wutai, changed his opinions on shinra and his father and ultimately quit the army once his time was served. he went on to learn martial arts under zangan, and would later join the gold saucer as a champion boxer. kain and his father do not speak.ㅤAGE thirtysix.ㅤ at the age of thirty-six (1983), heidegger and zhara's second daughter - dwayna - was born. dwayna very much looks like her mother, with blonde hair and bright eyes - she's short in stature as a grown woman ( standing at around five feet five, she has a curvaceous but slim figure ) & unlike anybody in her family, would later aspire to be a traveller.ㅤAGE fortythree.ㅤ when heidegger was forty-three (1990), the war between wutai and shinra erupted with the acting-leader of public security / shinra's right hand being deployed to serve on the frontline within the army as a lieutenant colonel; incensed by president shinra and relieved to once again be on the battlefield he'd pined for for so long - heidegger took to battle like a duck to water.he thrived in the early war, slaughtering wutai soldiers and paving a way for shinra's mech to further take the land. despite his roots to wutai, he felt no guilt or shame in taking over - his genuine belief in shinra being that by taking the land, they would make it 'better'. he held onto shinra's word that the war would see wutai thrive as an asset of shinra.AND THEN HE MET GODO -

ㅤAGE fortyfive.ㅤ at the age of forty-four (1991), heidegger fought godo in a 'battle to the death' - the younger of the two, wutai's king being an exceptional force of nature that the shinra soldier found himself struggling against.during the battle, godo struck heidegger down - impaling him through the chest with his scimitar before leaving him for dead ( because he'd assumed him to be ). picked up by shinra troops, heidegger was taken out of action and nursed in a hospital back in junon - here, he was comatose for three weeks.upon waking up, he was informed that his injury was so severe as to permanently effect the beat of his heart ( he essentially was left 'heartbroken' by this encounter ). placed on medication for the remainder of his life and told he could never fight again, heidegger went home to find his wife zhara leaving alongside his daughters ( now ages, 14 & 8 ), citing he never cared for her or them and only ever cared for battle.devastated, heidegger turned to alcohol.seeing as he could no longer fight, he was instead moved to office command but promoted for his feats in battle to be the official leader of public security ( as well as a general ).his battle against godo was massively lied about and spun by the media to have had him won the battle rather than lose it - with the suggestion being that the pair had drawn after heidegger had extended his hand to help godo. though heidegger initially disapproved of this lie, he later came to believe it himself - running with it & spinning the same web when asked. this is where he gets his 'an enemy spared is an enemy who will repay your "kindness" with blood.' ( he taps his chest as he says it, indication that the old wound still hurts to this day ).

ㅤstandard verse, current timeline.ㅤ =from here on, the continuity follows the continuity of the games - however, with some added elements due to headcanons.
during the bc junon mission - heidegger takes control of the turks and royally fucks up; this is in part due to two things. for one, his lack of understanding at commanding a team like the turks ( they're very different from the military; this was inspired by a suggestion by @ceaselxss ) - the second reason is because he was still very much a suffering alcoholic ( and though this wasn't public knowledge, his fuck-ups are in part due to his frequent intoxication ).during the north crater section of the og ffvii - heidegger doesn't leave the highwind - this is because of his experience as a young man. he is literally too terrified to step outside of the flight ( but will pretend otherwise if asked ).during this time, he is divorced - his daughters are grown up. with edlyn being a journalist residing in kalm ( at age 30 ) & dwayna, a traveller ( at age 24 ).ㅤalternative future, post meteor.ㅤ this is set in an au in which heidegger survives the proud clod fight; during the battle, his heart gave out and he suffered a massive heart attack. as well as this, he suffered with fourth-degree burns and smoke inhalation - leaving the surviving man a husk of his former self. he has nary

physical & mental health

Heidegger has a large scar across his right eye - this was given to him by a Behemoth when he was twenty-two years old. He also has a large scar between his pectoral muscles - this was caused by Godo stabbing him through the chest with a scimitar. He has various small scars dotted around his knuckles and hands, as well as various scars from fights dotted across his body.In terms of physical health, Heidegger suffers with heart problems as a result of his age / health / old injury. This problem leaves him with an irregular heartbeat ( sort of like a heart murmur ) that he MUST take medication for. When he gets overexcited / angry, he can feel his heart beat painfully fast ( this makes him angrier ). He also suffers with weakness and exhaustion as a result of his injuries from the early days of the wutai war. Mental HealthMentally, Heidegger is not entirely well. He suffers with PTSD, ( mild ) anxiety, depression & alcoholism. He will not admit to ANY of them and exudes a toxic mindset regarding them. Heidegger has had therapy & mental health intervention as a young man ( he denied as much help as he could, aside from being sectioned ). The man has a lot of issues. Openly, he is sadomasochistic.medicationHe takes medication for his heart & pain medication for the aches / pains in his joints & muscles.

fighting style

Heidegger fights like a samurai - his weapon of choice, a Katana. However, he hasn't always fought this way ( he's always been a very physical fighter, with a lot of grappling / wrestling ).
